I have been exploring the intersection of art, society, and the everyday life of an individual, moving between these three domains and confronting the circumstances that arise within them. These circumstances are not merely subjects of observation; they are events that shake my way of thinking and demand transformation. I often witness socially pressing issues being quickly consumed, silenced, or forgotten, and through my work, I seek to capture and reawaken these fleeting moments.
My artistic practice materializes these phenomena through various media—drawing, mapping, painting, installation, video, animation, and choreography—visualizing the fractures and uncertainties embedded in our reality. What begins as a reflection on a specific social issue or personal experience extends beyond its original context, evolving into a scene that must be continuously encountered rather than simply represented.
For me, art is not a static outcome but a continuous cycle. The process of translating a particular awareness into a visual form, which in turn generates new questions, creates an ongoing dialogue between myself and society. This iterative engagement is not just a method of working but a way of perceiving and understanding the world.
I am drawn to the moments that go unnoticed, the narratives that are silenced, and the realities that are forced into oblivion. My artistic practice is an attempt to reclaim these absences, to render them visible through diverse visual languages, and to invite reconsideration.
나는 미술, 사회, 그리고 지극히 평범한 한 개인으로서의 삶—이 세 가지 영역을 넘나들며 마주하는 정황들에 집중해왔다. 그것들은 단순한 관찰의 대상이 아니라, 나의 사유 체계를 흔들고 변화를 요구하는 사건들이다. 사회적으로 첨예한 문제들이 때론 빠르게 소비되고, 곧 사라지거나 쉬쉬하며 말해지는 순간들을 목격하면서, 나는 이러한 현상들을 기록하고 환기하는 작업을 지속해 왔다.
내 작업은 이러한 정황들을 다양한 매체—드로잉, 맵핑, 페인팅, 설치, 영상, 애니메이션, 안무 등—를 통해 가시화하는 시도이다. 이를 통해 나는 우리의 현실과 그 경계에서 발생하는 균열과 불안정성을 포착하고자 한다. 특정한 사회적 이슈나 개인의 경험에서 출발한 사유는 작품 속에서 시간과 공간을 확장하며, 단순한 재현이 아닌 ‘지속적으로 마주해야 하는 장면’으로 거듭난다.
나에게 있어 예술은 정적인 결과물이 아니라, 끊임없이 순환하는 과정이다. 특정한 문제의식이 작품으로 형상화되고, 다시 그것이 새로운 질문을 낳으며 이어지는 반복의 과정 속에서, 나는 나 자신과 우리 사회의 존재 방식을 다시금 바라보게 된다. 이러한 과정은 나에게 있어 단순한 작업 방식이 아니라, 삶을 인식하고 이해하는 하나의 태도이자 방법론이다.
나는 우리가 인식하지 못한 채 지나치는 순간들과 사라지는 것들, 말해지지 않거나 잊히기를 강요받는 이야기들에 주목한다. 그리고 그것들을 다양한 시각적 언어를 통해 환기하고, 다시금 질문하게 만드는 것이 나의 예술적 실천이다.
